This magnificent Christmas tree stands in this courtyard of Basel’s town hall. Every year during the Advent season, a beautiful Christmas tree is erected there. People come from far and wide to marvel at the giant tree and its traditional ornaments by the well-known decorator Johann Wanner.
The red walled town hall at the marketplace is Basel’s focal point. It was built from 1504 to 1514 and extended a century later with a splendid oriel window and frescos around an inner courtyard by Hans Block.
