Doubs Nature Park (10)

Doubs Nature Park (10)

The Doubs is a 453-kilometer-long river in eastern France which strays into western Switzerland. It rises in the western Jura mountains at an elevation of 946 meters. Its mouth is at Verdun-sur-le-Doubs, a village in Saône-et-Loire at about 175 m above sea level. It is the tenth-longest river in France.

For 40 kilometers, the Doubs forms the border between France and Switzerland. Here, the river flows through a magnificent canyon-like gorge, surrounded by cliffs and steep forests. Since 2013, this area has been a Regional Nature Park.

I recently hiked along the Doubs from the charming little town of St-Ursanne to the village of Occourt. This and the following photos were taken there.
