Nosferatu Spider (Zoropsis spinimana) (3)

Nosferatu Spider (Zoropsis spinimana) (3)

The Nosferatu spider in my photo resembles a wolf spider, as its eyes are of the same configuration: Eight eyes are arranged in two rows of four, which gently curve toward the rear of the body. Unlike wolf spiders, the eyes of Nosferatu spiders are more spread out along the front third of the cephalothorax (the fused head and thorax of a spider).

You can identify the sex of a spider by their pedipalps; pedipalps are the small appendages between face and first pair of legs. If those end in a blunt end it is a female, if they end in a weirdly shaped bulb, it is a male. Thus, the spider in my photo is a female.
