Common green lacewings have a wingspan of 15 to 30 millimeters. They have a long and slender body that is green in color. Their wings, which are folded over their abdomen when at rest, have dense green veins. Their hemispherical compound eyes are clearly protruding and shimmer in rainbow colors.
Adult common green lacewings feed on nectar, pollen and aphid honeydew. The larvae are active predators and feed on aphids and other small insects. It has been used in the biological control of insect pests on crops.
