Locusts (Locusta migratoria) (1)

The migratory locust (Locusta migratoria) is a large grasshopper, usually green or brown in color, with wings that extend beyond the abdomen. It can be sedentary and solitary or migratory, occurring in large swarms and posing a serious threat to agriculture. The insects are known for their ability to fly long distances and are an important source of protein in many cultures.

I took the photo at Basel Zoo yesterday.
