Sepsis punctum is a European species of fly and member of the family Sepsidae. As with all Sepsis species, it has a black spot on each wing. The body is glossy black, the wing length 4 to 6 mm.
These flies are found from February through October. The females lay their eggs on dung piles, where the larvae also live after hatching.
Adult sepsis flies perform a unique wing-waving display as a courtship ritual, which resembles a dance aimed at impressing potential mates.
