Autumn Hike in the Swiss Jura Mountains (35)

After countless weeks of sunshine, it finally rained for almost a whole night. What a thrilling experience this was! Because I like the autumn atmosphere in the Swiss Jura mountains very much I immediately went hiking there on one of my favorite trails, the ‘Blauen Crest Trail’.

The Swiss Jura mountain is a scenic sub-alpine middle mountain range forming a natural northwest border between Switzerland and France. It spans roughly 10% of Switzerland in a sweeping arc from the Rhône River near Geneva to the Rhine near Basel. This is where I live.

Today’s photograph was captured close to the trail head. I was glad that I started early. The gloomy atmosphere was spectacular.
