Hike Over the Summit of Belchen (1,414 m, Black Forest) (1)

Belchen is not the highest mountain in the Black Forest but is thought to be one of the most beautiful. Its striking form can be seen when approaching from Münstertal or Kleine Wiesental.

Because of the superb view from the top, it attracts a large number of people in summer and in winter. The Belchen is also home to many rare species of plants and animals, many of which are only found there.

I started the 11 km long hike in Münstertal. Originating from the former mining town of Münster at the foot of the St. Trudpert monastery, today the community is characterized by widely scattered settlement centers. A new center has formed around the railway station.
