Hike Over the Summit of Feldberg (1,493 m, Black Forest) (5)

Feldberg is the highest mountain in the Black Forest yet a peak it is not. It is the highest elevation of a broad and deforested mountain range, which is several kilometers long and, since hundreds of years, has been used as pastureland. Three round domes rise from this massif and the highest is the Feldberg.

On top of Feldberg [1’493 m] there is a radar station, a meteorological station and a TV tower. The mountain called ‘Baldenweger Buck’ [1461 m] lies in the northeast of this dome. In the southeast you find the mountain called ‘Seebuck’ [1448 m] with a Bismarck memorial and the observation tower ‘Feldbergturm’. On clear days you have a beautiful view as far as the Swiss Alpes.
