Blue-Tailed Damselflies (Ischnura elegans) (7)

Photographing damselflies is a tricky affair. They are camera shy, and one has to draw nearer with great caution. Often the light conditions determine success of the attempt. A milky sky with the sun behind a thin layer of cloud is ideal. Direct, intense sunlight is problematic as it causes reflections on the dragonflies’ shiny chitinous shell.
