Golden Clematis (Clematis tibetana) (7)

Flowering of golden clematis begins in June, has a rest period in July, then resumes and only ends with the first frost. The solitary flower buds are carried by long peduncles in the axils of the leaves. They are spherical and light green in color. They open into flowers of 4 to 6 cm in diameter, in the shape of Chinese lanterns. They are composed of 4 bright tepals, darkening from lemon yellow over time. Before fading, they take on a slightly lumpy appearance of orange peel and a beautiful orange hue.
