Vlieland – A Dutch Car-Free Island in the North Sea (43)

Each Dutch Wadden island has its own character and if you want to experience them then ‘island hopping’ is the way to go. A small ferry carries you e.g. from mid-May to September from Texel to Vlieland (or vice versa). You have to make a reservation at least one week in advance. And, of course, the weather must be suitable for this.

Today’s photo shows the poles that mark a jetty for the Texel-Vlieland-ferry. Its exact location needs to be changed from year to year as the coastline also changes from year to year.
