Golden Crocuses (Crocus chrysanthus)

Golden Crocuses (Crocus chrysanthus)

Many of the commonly found spring blooming crocuses are hybrids of Crocus vernus, with large, single flowers. They are hardy and easy to naturalize plants that pop up early in spring. The narrow, cup shaped flowers have 6 tepals and can be shades of white, purple or yellow, depending on the variety.

I captured this beautiful clump of crocuses in Basel‘s Schützenmattpark a couple days ago.
