Pasque Flowers (Pulsatilla vulgaris) (2)

Pulsatilla vulgaris is a hairy, low-growing perennial 20 to 30 cm high. It forms clumps that spread over time. Leaves are grayish-green and lacy. Solitary purple flowers with yellow stamens precede most of the foliage in spring. After the flowers have faded, beautiful feathery seed heads form.
