Candytuft (Iberis sempervirens) (1)

The genus Iberis, commonly known as candytuft, comprises around 40 different species. They are native to the mountainous regions of southern Europe.

Iberis sempervirens is a low-growing, evergreen, perennial shrub. In late spring/early summer, it bears pure white flowers above a low, spreading, gray-green foliage cushion.

Iberis sempervirens is hardy and can overwinter outdoors without any problems. Its flowers are very popular with bees, bumblebees, and other insects.

The flower of Iberis sempervirens ‘Climax’ was captured in the garden of a neighbor recently.
