Sneezeweed flowers have a large, bulbous, dome-shaped central disk that changes from yellow to deep brown, purple, or dark red as it matures.
Sneezeweed leaves, flowers, and seeds are poisonous to humans. If eaten in large quantities, they may cause gastric and intestinal irritation, which can become fatal. The chemicals in sneezeweed can also poison livestock, particularly sheep and cattle.
