The island of Vlieland has only one village: Oost-Vlieland, with approximately 1’100 residents. The village contains 39 buildings classified as ‘monument’. These have been carefully renovated to maintain the main street [‘Dorpsstraat’] in its original state. Here, cozy shops offer a wide range of everyday needs.
Oost-Vlieland serves as the administrative center of the island. The municipality doesn’t allow you to bring your car or motorcycle. This means that nothing will disturb the overwhelming impression of peace and quiet.
